The Monday Bloom with Jae Tanner

When people think of wedding and event florals, fresh blooms are usually the first thing that come to mind and for good reason. There’s something timeless and romantic about them. Yet, over the years, I’ve found myself constantly answering questions (and sometimes criticism) about using artificial florals. So let’s talk about it honestly, respectfully, and from the heart.

At The Bohemian Gypsy Florals, I choose to work with high-quality artificial florals not because they’re “easier,” but because they offer a different kind of beauty and flexibility that many people don’t initially consider.

First, let’s talk about longevity. Artificial florals don’t wilt, bruise, or fade throughout your event day. They look just as full and vibrant at the end of the night as they did when they were first set up. For outdoor weddings in the Coastal heat, destination events, or long wedding days, that reliability matters. You don’t have to worry about petals dropping, arrangements drying out, or last-minute replacements.

Another huge benefit is consistency. With artificial florals, what you see in your consultation is exactly what you get on your wedding day. There’s no stress about seasonal availability, unexpected substitutions, or colors being slightly off due to growing conditions. I’m able to design with intention and guarantee the final look down to the smallest detail.

Then there’s the opportunity for keepsakes. Your bouquet doesn’t have to be preserved after the fact, it already is! Many of my brides love being able to keep their florals as-is, whether that means displaying them in their home, repurposing them for anniversaries, or even passing them down. It becomes more than just a one day detail.

And let’s clear something up, artificial does not mean fake looking. The quality of today’s florals has come a long way. The textures, colors, and movement can be incredibly realistic, especially when thoughtfully designed. My goal is always to create arrangements that feel organic, romantic, and true to your vision-never stiff or overly manufactured.

Most importantly, choosing artificial florals doesn’t mean you’re “cutting corners” or settling. It simply means you’re choosing what works best for your day, your priorities, and your style. There’s room in this industry for BOTH fresh and artificial florals, and both can be absolutely stunning!

At the end of the day, my mission is to create something beautiful and meaningful for each client. Something that reflects their story. Whether that’s through preserved blooms, silk stems, or a mix of textures, the heart behind the design is what truly matters.

So if you’ve ever felt unsure or judged for considering artificial florals, just know—you’re not alone. And you’re definitely not wrong for choosing what works best for you!
